How to Clean a Munchkin Bottle Warmer
The Oregon Health and Science University recommends heating baby bottles using a bottle warming unit instead of a microwave oven to reduce the risk of burn injuries. Bottle warmers provide quick, even heating of liquid with none of the hot spots associated with microwaved formula.
The Munchkin bottle and food warmer helps busy parents heat up food or bottles fast, and it is the perfect size for single bottles or food jars. Like all bottle warmers, this device requires regular cleaning and maintenance to kill germs and ensure the unit will operate as intended.
Unplug the unit from the wall and allow it to cool completely before beginning the cleaning process.
Remove the plastic cup, lid and pacifier basket from the base of the warmer.
Place these plastic items into a bowl of warm, soapy water. Use a rag or towel to clean each item, then rinse to remove remaining soap and debris. Dry each item with your towel or allow them to air dry.
Apply a small amount of liquid dish detergent to a damp sponge. Wipe the inside and outside of the bottle warmer base with your sponge. Wipe again with a clean sponge or towel to remove all moisture.
Pour 2 oz. of white vinegar into the bottle warming unit. Add 4 oz. cold water and allow the mixture to sit in the chamber for a few minutes to descale the unit. Empty the unit and rinse with water once all lime or mineral deposits have been removed.
Always unplug your bottle warmer and allow it to cool before cleaning to reduce the risk of burns or electric shock.
Never scrub the plastic components of the bottle warmer with harsh abrasives or scouring pads, as you could scratch the finish.
Never submerge the bottle warmer in water. This could damage the electrical components within the unit.
