Everyone needs vitamin C daily, including toddlers. The vitamin is necessary for the growth and repair of your body's tissues, as it heals wounds, forms scar tissues and repairs cartilage, bones and teeth. It's commonly thought of as a remedy for a cold, but MedlinePlus notes that vitamin C doesn't lessen the risk of catching the virus. It can, however, reduce the duration or severity of the symptoms in your toddler.
RDA for Toddlers
Children ages 1 to 3 need 15 milligrams of vitamin C per day. Although vitamin C comes in supplement form, it's better to offer your toddler whole-food sources of the vitamin to meet the daily recommendation. Foods high in vitamin C include:

- cereals fortified with the vitamin
