Everyone needs vitamin C daily, including toddlers. It can, however, reduce the duration or severity of the symptoms in your toddler.

Children ages 1 to 3 need 15 milligrams of vitamin C per day. Although vitamin C comes in supplement form, it's better to offer your toddler whole-food sources of the vitamin to meet the daily recommendation. Foods high in vitamin C include:

- cereals fortified with the vitamin
